The biggest selling point of artificial turf is how little work it takes. That's true. But we'd rather be straight with you than oversell it. Low-maintenance doesn't mean zero-maintenance, so here's what actually keeps a turf lawn looking great.
The basic routine
It's simple and it's quick. Compared to a real lawn it's barely anything.
- Blow or lightly rake off leaves and debris now and then
- Hose it down occasionally to rinse off dust and pollen
- Rinse pet areas regularly to keep them fresh
- Brush up high-traffic spots once in a while to keep the pile standing
That's the whole list. No mowing, no watering, no fertilizing, no aerating, no reseeding. Most people spend more time thinking about it than actually doing it.
Spots that need a little attention
Shady, tree-heavy areas like a lot of Brookswood yards drop more leaves and can get some surface moss if debris is left to sit. A quick clear-off a few times through fall keeps that in check. Areas under big evergreens are the ones to stay on top of.
When to call for help
Sometimes turf needs more than a rinse, especially if it was installed badly or it's been down for years. Lifting seams, flattened pile, low infill, or drainage issues are all fixable. We re-seam, top up infill, power brush, deep clean, and correct base problems, often for a lot less than a full replacement.
Got turf that's looking tired, or a bad install you inherited? Call us. We'll take a look and tell you honestly whether it needs a refresh or a redo.
